Dr Megan Underhill

Clinical Psychologist
DClinPsych

I am a Clinical Psychologist and offer therapy to individuals (adolescents and adults) in South West London or over Skype.

I use a number of different Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches to help patients deal with a range of psychological difficulties and recognised disorders, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and many more.

Experience

I have worked within the NHS as a clinician since 2007. I have experience of working clinically using a range of therapeutic modalities, most recently using primarily cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and compatible approaches such as compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I have experience of working individually with adults including people experiencing difficulties with drug and alcohol use, older adults, adolescents and children, including those in care and adolescents with forensic histories. I have also worked with families, and has facilitated groupwork.

I am committed to understanding people’s difficulties in context, and supporting people to move forward in a way that feels right for them.

Alongside my work with Mollart CBT, I work in a NHS service aimed at Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT).

I wrote my doctoral thesis on experiences of threatening thoughts in first episode psychosis, exploring content, distress, change over time and context.

Qualifications

I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Salomons, Canterbury Christ Church University. I also hold an MSc in Mental Health Studies from Kings College London.

I am a registered Practitioner Psychologist with The Health Care Professional Council (HCPC), which monitors and regulates the practice of Clinical Psychologists.

Professional Development

I receive regular supervision and she also attends conferences and skills based workshops to maintain and develop her knowledge and skill set.
