Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Counselling, Psychotherapy, Anger Management, Stress Management and Trauma Therapy

Are you looking for a solution to a problem in your life?  Have you been unable to find a way forward by thinking it through on your own or talking to others?

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I adopt an “integrative” approach. By this I mean that I draw on many different therapeutic methods and models in my work and tailor the approach to what best suits you and the topic. As well as “traditional” counselling and psychotherapy, I offer:

Short term therapy with psycho-education – including a one to one intensive programme for those who have problems being assertive in relationships, problems controlling themselves when they are angry, or are troubled by having a short fuse.

Short term trauma focused work – The purpose of these sessions is to reduce the present-day impact on you of past trauma – e.g. if you have suffered physical, mental or sexual abuse, including bullying; a bereavement, including loss of a relationship or a miscarriage; trauma giving birth, or an accident.

Fees: I charge £60 for each 50 minute session.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Stress and Anger Management Facilitation 2006 (British Association of Anger Management) including modules in Mindfulness, Working with Trauma and CBT; Traumatic Incident Reduction Training (TIRA) 2006, 2007 and 2008; Advanced Integrated Domestic Violence Training (DVIP) 2009; Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Spectrum) 2000-2014 including specialist programmes in Working with Anger, Childhood Sexual Abuse, Clinical Skills and Sexuality. BA (Hons) Durham University 1989. Family Law Specialist Solicitor for 21 years and Family Mediator for 16 years.

Code of Ethics:

I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am subject to the BACP Professional Conduct Procedures.
